Tags are categories or designations that are applied to entities within a network. Network administrators can apply tags to organizations, locations, and programs within their network.
Tags are created in the Tag Management area of the platform and can be used as search filters on the map or as a descriptor only visible within the platform. They can be used for network-specific items not already covered by existing filters. This can make finding network-specific programs, locations, or organizations much easier.
Here are some examples of how tags have been used:
- Specific programs: If a food bank has a program called Kids Club and they’d like it to be searchable on their website map, they could create a tag called “Kids Club” and add it as a search filter.
- Area tags: Sometimes a service area is known by a neighborhood name or other regional name. For example, if a food bank had four areas covered by their agency team, they could create tags called “North/South/East/West” and apply those tags to the corresponding agency profiles. They could leave this as platform-only (no searchable filter on the map) and get separate reports and dashboard information for each area.
- Distribution size: Tagging programs by the approximate number of people served could be a great way to identify gaps in food distribution. This would also be platform-only (no searchable filter on the map).
